9th Annual Shootout

TOURNAMENT HISTORY:
The Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout began in 2004 – born out of a Virginia Beach fisherman’s love for angling the shores of the Atlantic along the Virgnia Beach oceanfront.  It occurred to him, as it has to many, that not only are the waters off of Virginia Beach plentiful with fish, but they truly offer as good – if not better – fishing than anywhere on the East Coast.  Proving it would become the passion of the tournament director, Mike Standing.  This passion has catapulted the Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout to become the largest Rockfish tournament in the country and has helped Virginia Beach garner its proper angling recognition.

GIVING BACK:
To date, the Rockfish Shootout has provided thousands of pounds of skinless rockfish filets to area foodbanks (well into the tens of thousands of individual meals).  Also to date they have donated over $25,000 to CHKD to help build a family room at the hospital.   Several thousand more have been donated to a local scholarship fund, a local fisherman in need and various other fishing related organizations

2012 1st Place Winners in the Artificial Category, Fishing Fever II brought in a combined weight of their top three fish of 128.30.  Total Payout:  $49,481!!!
ARTIFICIAL CATEGORY TOTAL PAYOUT: $150,266 

2012 Live Category winners, Lady S II, brought in a combined weight of their top three fish of 107.00 lbs. Total Payout was $7,684.00!
LIVE BAIT CATEGORY TOTAL PAYOUT: $19,063.60
